Elmer Kissler

Feb. 18, 1927-March 24, 2006

Age: 79

Residence: Cheyenne

Tribute: Elmer Jacob Kissler was born in Gilcrest to Jacob and Anna
Elizabeth Kissler. He attended school in Greeley and served in the Navy
during World War II. Afterward he married Ardelle Smith of Greeley, and they
moved to Cheyenne where he owned and operated Rancher's Appliance for many
years.

Mr. Kissler was a longtime member of the Frontier Lions Club and played an
active role in many service-oriented activities. He also was a member of St.
Paul's Lutheran Church. Before retirement in 1986, he also worked for the
city of Cheyenne as the superintendent of parking facilities. After his
retirement, he volunteered for the Frontier Days Museum.

During the years, Mr. Kissler took part in various sports, including
softball, tennis and golf, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and
his wife traveled extensively and enjoyed, in particular, their visits to
Europe, the United Kingdom, Hawaii and the Caribbean. At home, his many
projects reflected his skills as an innovative craftsman. While a fan of
music from the Big Band era, his own talent on the accordion focused on the
polka music he grew up with as a young boy.

Mr. Kissler died Friday at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Cheyenne
surrounded by his family.

Survivors: His wife of 59 years, Ardelle of Cheyenne; a son, Gary and wife
Jan of Cheyenne; a daughter Laurie Selander and husband Paul of Littleton;
and his grandsons, John, Michael, James, and Mark Selander of Littleton. His
brother, Clarence Kissler, lives in Littleton.

Preceded in death by: His parents, three sisters, Helen Orr, Ruth Kissler
and Clara Moore, and a brother, Fred Kissler.

Services: Were Monday, March 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cheyenne.

Notes: The family requests that any donations in Elmer's memory be made to
UMC Hospice or VA Hospice.

Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne was in charge of
arrangements.
