Have hit an extremely THICK brickwall. Family Bible states Robert Frank RUSSELL was born 5 April 1857 in Abbeville District SC. He was the son of a Robert E. RICHARDS who died 1859 in Abbeville District SC and Elizabeth RUSSELL. Family Bible of Robert Frank RUSSELL states Elizabeth was born in Abbeville District SC and died 1867 in DeKalb County GA.

Family lore states that Elizabeth RUSSELL married Robert E. RICHARDS against the will of her parents. It also has it that Elizabeth's parents detested the man so strongly that when he died in 1859 leaving Elizabeth alone to raise Robert Frank, her parents refused to allow her to return home unless she changed the child's surname to RUSSELL rather than RICHARDS.
I am open to all suggestions about how to proceed now. This line has me really frustrated since I've not been able to get past 2G grandparents!!!
