Okay gang this is what I haveon James Rutledge: I believe that perhaps Thomas
and Mary came from Maryland. No proof. I have copy of Thomas Rutledge's
inventory. I have a great deal more if anyone is interested in the next

This is what I have:(Sonny writing)

James Rutledge b. about 1671 married (1) Sarah and (2) Mary (I'm not for sure
which one was first. Mary was first married to Thomas Rutledge (James's
brother I think) and when Thomas died James married her. I also think that
Sarah was a Rutledge before she married James. Sarah may have been a cousin,
maybe? ) I don't have all their children, only James Rutledge b. about 1745 in
VA, married in VA to Ann Owen and died about 1824 in Wilkes Co. GA

Mary was exec of Thos. Rutledge estate
Mary Rutledge: 30/Jul/1742, 253 acres in the Co. of Amelia, fork between Bush
River & Sandy River for importing 3 people.
Mary sold 150 acres to James Rutledge 17/Jun/1743, for 20 lbs, part of tract
granted to Mary by patent 30 Jul 1742, lying in fork between bush and Sandy
Rivers and includes sthe land where Mary and James Now live.

1743. pg 63--When St Patrick's Parris was created, there were two churches
in it's territory, Sandy River and Buffalo. At the vestry meeting which called
Garden as minister, Richard Rutledge was elected sexton at Sand River and
Francis Rice at Buffalo. Judith Rutledge succeeded her husband as sexton at
Sandy River in 1757.

Mary Rutledge, widow of Thomas Rutledge of Amelia Co., VA. (Deed Bk 2, Amelia
Co., VA 1742-1747, 975.501 Am 3 d) They owned land between Bush River and
Sandy River.
