Christine: I believe the following will answer some of your questions. Notice
that one of Joseph Rutledge's son is called Berry. This is probably what he

1. JOSEPH2 RUTLEDGE (JAMES1) was born Abt. 1744 in Amelia Co., VA, and died
Abt. 1814 in Greenville Co., SC. He married MARY PASCHAL Abt. 1769 in VA.

OTHER:It is possible that Joseph Rutledge, Sr is the son of James Rutledge
and Sarah of Amelia Co., VA. Sarah died prior to 1747 and James apparently
married Mary Rutledge, widow of Thomas Rutledge of Amelia Co., VA. (Deed Bk 2,
Amelia Co., VA 1742-1747, 975.501 Am 3 d) They owned land between Bush River
and Sandy River.
