Hi there,

I posted this in the SOUTH-AFRICA list but unfortunately no reply.. Can
anyone help?

I have received some information that my 2nd Great-grandfather, Johannes
Jacobus HAVENGA, was killed in a war? in May 1894. Only a few months before
his son was born on 22 Aug 1894.

Would anyone know which war this could have been? I have had a quick look
but am unable to see any big wars in South Africa around that date?
