Hi Tombi
Big TYPOs' ... you correct, it ought to read :
History of Customs Duties - Cape under the Batavian Republic (1803 to
1806) & Beyond (1806-1855) instead ...Bavarian (sic) Republic
......., the journey restarts in 1803, when the Cape colony came under
the control of the Batavian Republic (the Netherlands), which lasted
until 1806...instead of the
Bavarian (sic) Republic (The Netherlands)
The Batavian Republic (Dutch: Bataafse Republiek) ..for impact on South
African history , please check website link
http://www.sahistory.org.za/pages/governence-projects/batavian_republic/batavian_republic.htm
Thanx for your eagle-eye sharpness, now I am assured that this
SA-HISTORY list is merely dormant..., but with an active readership
still lurking in the background !

Kammie
