A cousin sent this to me, and we're trying to find out more about these
Joseph Sacketts from VT. Since there are so many of them, it is confusing
and more difficult. Any help, direction, referral greatly appreciated.

I conjecture that
Hiram Sackett (my ancestor), born about 1793 in Vermont, was probably the
son
of Joseph Sacket Jr. of Addision County, Town of Panton, Vermont. The 1800
Vermont Census lists a Joseph Sacket and a Joseph Jr. at Panton, and
another
Joseph Sacket at the Town of Weybridge in Addison County.

Joseph Jr. of Addison, Town of Panton, was born between 1755 and 1774 and
had
three males under 10 yrs., one son between 10 and 16 yrs., and three
females
under 10 yrs.

Joseph of Panton was born between 1774 and 1784, and had two males under
the
age of 10 yrs.

Joseph of Weybridge was born between 1755 and 1774 and had one male under
10
yrs., and three females under 10 yrs

Also found in the Town of Panton, 1800 Census, are Abraham Sacket born
between
1774 and 1784, and Filer Sacket, born between 1755 and 1774.

The 1790 Vermont Census lists a Joseph, born before 1774, and Reuben Sacket
born before 1774, in Addison County on page 11. There is also a Joseph
listed
on page 14 who was born before 1774.

The 1810 Vermont Census lists no familiar Sacket names. Perhaps some of
the
Sackets then moved to Pennsylvania and New York, as my ancestor Hiram's two
oldest sons were born in Pennsylvania around 1815 and 1817. Hiram's wife,
Anna
Jones, was also born in Pennsylvania in 1797. I am unsure as to the date
of
Hiram and Anna's marriage, however believe it to have been about 1815 in
Pennsylvania.

The 1810 New York Census lists a Joseph Sacket in Onondaga County. This
Joseph
is over 45 yrs., has two males between 16 and 26 yrs., and 4 males under
the
age of 10 yrs.
