Dear Mary Jo,

Many thanks for your kind offer. I would be delighted if you could send me a
scan of Erastus Sackett's letter. I can then add it to my website so that
other Sackett researchers may see it.

Our next trick is to figure out who Erastus was! Do your researches on Luray
give any clue to his parents?

Regards,
Chris

I recently purchased a one page letter from Ebay written by Erastus Sackett
of Clark County, Missouri. It was dated 1860, and the address was Luray,
which is in Clark County. I am not related but have been doing a great deal
of research on Luray, and had become familiar with Erastus. He was an
important man in Luray in the 1860's, & is sometimes referred to as Captain
Sackett. He recruited men, in Luray, for the Union army.

Erastus died soon after the Civil War, I believe 1869, and is buried at
Luray in Combs Cemetery, where my ancestors are buried. Do you know of
anyone who is interested in Erastus?

I would like to be able to send a copy of my original Sackett letter, where
it can be preserved in your Sackett archives. If you are interested email
me and I will scan it to you.
