Whether it is a big difference depends upon who you are talking to. There are some who spell the name with one "t" and some using two "t"s who will insist that their spelling is the correct spelling. However, in the old records we find both sepllings used for the same individual over a period og years. We have records where the individual's name is spelled with a single "t" but documents signed by that same individual used the double "t".

All of that just to say that, to me, it isn't that big of a deal.
