Kari,

I have also done web searches for the surname Garye and have had very few
hits. And most of the hits have been for Garye as a given name. This caused
me to I remember the census we worked on for a Wanye Sackett which turned
out to be a mistranscripton of Orange Sackett because the "O" was not closed
and looked like a "W" and the "g" was not closed and looked like a "y". This
causes me to suspect that the old headstone inscription, maybe "Gorge"; was
misread as Garye.

When we consider the fact that the graves from the old cemetery was moved,
that would account for a duplication of some of the inscriptions. And it
suggests to me that
Sackett, Mary E.Garye; --/--/-- --/--/1891 BERLIN-CHESHIRE CEM.
Sackett, Mary Emeline; 07/22/1813 03/31/1891 OAK GROVE CEMETERY Father:
George, John Corliss
are the same person.

Thurmon
