Dear Cousins,

Having a few minutes of relative leisure this evening, I spent a them on the Col. Skene problem. A summary of my findings are below. This all comes from MEMORIALS OF THE FAMILY OF SKENE OF SKENE, 1887, Aberdeen, privately printed for the New Spalding Club.

Philip Wharton Skene was the son of James Skene and Mary Ann Smith, born February 5, 1725. He had one sister, Elizabeth, who unfortunately for some of the theories regarding Skene Douglas Sackett, died unmarried in 1799.

Philip married Katherine Heyden of Kilmacow, inArklow, County Wicklow, Ireland. She died at Skeneborough in 1771. They had three children; Andrew Philip Skene, Mary Ann Margaret Skene and Katherine Skene.

No mention anywhere of a Douglas.

There is of course more information available, but these are the critical facts as related to our endeavors.
