Dear Virginia, Cleaning out old notes today and found this one from 1993
trip to Jackson. David G. Ashley by Thelma J. Ashley Litton (printed
11-1980) 929.2 As26l at the Mississippi Dept. of Archives and History

Records from South Carolina Archives and Census Records- beginning in
Lancaster, Kershaw and Craven Counties, South Carolina.
*John Ashley Recieved 200 Acres Homestead #10882 Mary Ashley, wife August 17
*Jordan Ashley 1735- 17 Aug. 1817 Lancaster or Kershaw District Wife Unknown
Recieved 100 acres 27 Aug. 1864.
1.Robert Ashley, 1755- 27 Sept. 1829
Sarah Rue, wife, 1774 Orange Co. N.C. Died after 1848 married 2 Jan 1800
Robert Ashley served as Private in Revolutionary War. Wastaken prisoner
at Lindby Mills. Sarah raised large family. Recieved pension of $50.00 per
year from March 1848 til death. She also got Bounty Land. (from War Records)
2. Jordan Ashley 1 April 1761 Craven Co. SC. died 1 June 1830 in
Mississippi. Married about 1789 Sarah Sanders, (Half Catawba Indian) b. 15
Nov. 1769 d. after 1865 in SC.
After Civil War, Sarah left Copiah County, Miss on horse vack to return
to South Carolina to die with he people (Catawba). Enrouthe to South
Carolina, she stayed with Indians. She lived her last years with Elihu
Ashley, her grandson. He registered a $100.00 bill in Federal Builking,
Monticello, Ms. and sent her half which she recived and sent for the other
half. Last she was heard from, she was nearly 100 years old.
Sarah Sanders Parents--George Sanders, Jr. died 1820 Kershaw District and
Elizabeth she died after 1820 in Kershaw Dist. SC.
Sarah Sanders Grandparents---George Sanders, Sr. died after 15 July 1759 and
Aness Sanders died after 15 July 1757.
George Jr. had a sister Elizabeth who married an Ashley. Sarah's brothers
were George died 1829 married Elizabeth Collins, Thomas and William
David G. Ashley is a Jordan Ashley descendant throuh son Jordan .....
Have you read the David G. Ashley Book....is it still for sale? Can it be
loaned from LDS Library.
I have alot more information on Ashley family now would like to read this
book that I foolishly did not read then.
