Hi, folks:

It's running in my mind that *somewhere*, perhaps on this list some time ago
or in an account of the early origins of the Sanders name, I read an
explanation of the switch from Sanders to Saunders (or vice versa, I can't
remember which now).

I don't recall the exact explanation but it had something to do with
persecution in the 1500's or 1600's in England of some famous Sa(u)nders by
the crown and the subsequent switching of the name spelling by many Sanders
folks so as not to be associated with the whomever had incurred the wrath of
the King.

Does anybody remember such a tale? Jefferson? John K? Ivan?
