In going back and reading the msg's on Gen Wm Sanders. I noticed something
that didnt read right to me.
It looked to me like you were saying Fort Loudon was renamed for Gen Sanders.
You only state the fort was renamed for him. Now maybe I'am reading it wrong.
But Fort Loudon is still Fort Loudon and is located in Vonore Tenn abt 40
miles from my home in Knoxville.
Fort Sanders is in Knoxville. It is located just across the Tennesse River
fm Downtown Knoxville and is to the right sde of Chapman Hwy as you Tvl south
on Capman hwy on the way to Sevierville, Tenn and Gatlinburg.
The fort entrance is roughly a mile from the river. It had a commanding view
of the River in those days as it is on a hill over looking the area towards
town and perhaps down river some.
