New book from Yale ART Museum "Colonial Silversmiths of Massachusetts" has
Robert Sanders/Sanderson with good documentation. He may have originated in
Higham (Hingham) , Norwich, Norfolk and apprenticed to William Rawlings of
London. He lived in Hampton NH married to Lydia emigrating inb 1638; after
Lydia's death he married Mary Cross and about 1645 removed to
Watertown/Boston. Sons Joseph, Benjamin and Robert jr are listed in
Watertown and many of the family apprenticed as silversmiths.
I believe this family to be the ancestral line of Harvard/Groton MA William
Sanderson/Sanders. Would like to confirm this with anyone
