Dear Marion:
You may have some of your information confused (or I may have!). The
information I have states that Dorcas/Darkus/Darky CHANDLER's parents are Rev.
John CHANDLER (b. 25 Nov 1755 Halifax Co. VA; d. 9 Dec 1843 Green Co. KY) and
Catherine Elizabeth "Caty" TUNSTALL (b. by 1755 VA; d. 23 Jun 1834 Green Co. KY.
They were married 10 Jan 1775 in Halifax Co. VA and are both buried in the
CHANDLER Cemetery in what is now Taylor Co. KY. Their children, as listed in
the will of John CHANDLER are: Horatio, Dorcas, Sally, Catherine, Fanny,
Lucinda and Elizabeth.
The father of Catherine TUNSTALL is John Orrill TUNSTALL (b. Abt. 1734
Halifax Co. VA) who married Sally TEMPLE. John TUNSTALL's probable father,
Thomas TUNSTALL, was the Deputy Clerk for Halifzx Co. in the early 1700s.
Fellow listers, help us out with this - - who are the three children that
Marion has listed in the message below? Who are their parents? If one of
Catherine TUNSTALLs sisters (if she had any) married a CHANDLER also, then they
could have been having children in the same time frame as Catherine was
having hers, and could have named their first sons after their father "John
Orrill". Perhaps we should check in on the TUNSTALL Rootsweb list and see if anyone
their can help us out with the children of John Orrill TUNSTALL and Sally
TEMPLE.
I have puzzled over this as long as I can and must get some sleep.

I have a question about Dorcas Chandler. My wife has information for a John
Chandler Born 1754 & Died Aft. 1822. He was born in Amelia County Va. and
died in Halifax County Va. He married Catherine Tunstall 1/12/1775 in Halifax
Va. She was born Abt. 1756 and died before 1822.

We have found 3 childern, John Tunstall Chandler born 1777 & died bef. 1822
Orril Chandler Born 1784 Died 11/1839 & Scott Chandler.

My question is could Dorcas be part of this family.
