My wife's DAR Chapter has adopted a sailor on the USS Higgins, which is a part of the USS Constellation Battlegroup, and they are spreading the word about the National Anthem Project. It is not to late for others to get on board. Below is a press release and website with an address and more information.

FYI - From Press Release of the National Coordinator

Families and Loved ones of service men and women left here at home have launched "The National Anthem Project". In an effort to bolster support for the armed forces people involving more than 40 states have asked radio stations to play the National Anthem simultaneously on March 5th at 0900 MST (1100 EST) to honor their contributions in defense of America.

National Coordinator, Jerri Haaven-Pester, says the outpouring of support from around the country has been staggering. "It should come as no surprise how proud our country is of the men and women in the military," she states. "Regardless of your personal position of the situation in Iraq, these men and women have placed country before self and are willing to defend America's way of life."

Haaven-Pester says that the simultaneous broadcast will demonstrate that America has one voice when it comes to supporting and honoring the military. "We are confident that radio America will not disappoint our military."

City officials agree. Throughout the country mayors from coast-to-coast are proclaiming March 5th as "Support our Troops Day," and are encouraging schools, colleges and universities to participate with the playing of the National Anthem to remember the personal sacrifices of those who wear the uniform.

Fire stations in Illinois will honor the military by playing the Anthem in their neighborhoods. "It's the least we can do to honor them," stated one unidentified firefighter.

Radio Kuwait will pause and attempt to ensure that those on the ground in isolated areas will be aware of America's efforts; two major cable companies have agreed to endorse it; and an independent public relations firm in Georgia is using their influence to encourage radio stations to participate.

The USS Constellation's Public Affairs Office is impressed by this effort, and is setting up interviews with sailors and marines aboard ship to discuss what the National Anthem Project means to them.
