Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 20:48:52 -0500
The Col. Fielding Lewis Chapter VASSAR will be conducting a graveside
commemoration service for Alexander Henderson, father of Marine Corps
Commandant Archibald Henderson at 1430, Sunday, 21 September 2003 in
Montclair, Virginia.
Alexander Henderson was a Revolutionary War patriot, a member of the
Virginia Assembly and a delegate to the Mount Vernon Convention that led to
the Constitutional Convention and the founding of our Nation. He was born
in Scotland and died in Dumfries Virginia 22 Nov 1815. He had about ten
children and is recognized as a patriot ancestor by both the SAR and DAR.
His son Archibald was the 4th and longest serving Commandant of the U. S.
Marine Corps.
We are looking for any Henderson descendents and are hoping y'all can
attend.
All SAR's are invited, there should be strong community interest and good
publicity.
Interested persons, please contact
