For folks who like to plan ahead (perhaps way ahead), here are some
upcoming books on American women involved in the Revolution.
Alfred F. Young's study of Deborah Sampson is in production at Knopf,
meaning it could be on shelves at the end of this year or the start of
the next. Young's last book was THE SHOEMAKER AND THE TEA PARTY.
Knopf has also just signed Carol Berkin's AMERICA'S REVOLUTIONARY
MOTHERS: WOMEN IN THE STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE, which the agent calls
"the story of the other fifty percent of the country and their crucial
part in making the Revolution."
Finally, Viking has bought rights to MARTHA WASHINGTON: AN AMERICAN
LIFE, by Patricia
Brady, a recipient of a Mellon Fellowship from the Virginia Historical
Society.
