Dear gen22 (is that Gene?),

Thanks for the information... Yes, I have seen that map... is the property on 115 on the right side of the road (as you LEAVE Blakeslee), right near the creek/river, just before you get on the Interstate the tavern site? There is an old (early 20th century) building on the site now. That land was for sale a few years ago for $90,000?, it is seated on a "100 year flood plain" so it could not be used for much. Someone once told me that a local newspaper account noted that George's son, Sterling (my direct relation), refused to pay the $1.75 tax on the property!

My BIG question is ...... who was George Sox's father? Was it one of the Conrad's? And if so, which one? OR was it a John Sax? Also, I wonder about the Sax relations to the Shiffer family... In the 1850? census, Sarah Sax (then 65) was keeping house with her son Sterling (then in his 20s) together with three Shiffer's children very young? Perhaps Sarah was a grandmother? to these children, children of one of the Sax sisters?

Any case, if you could help me solve the mystery of George's father, I would be most appeciative!

Best,

David
