Hi Everybody, 13 Aug 2001
I am trying to determine which county and court in SC is responsible for
maintaining the property records reporting the purchase of property located
on the Tugaloo River in SC and the subsequent sale of this property to the
heirs of ROBERT CHILDRESS on or before 1 September 1821. At the time of
sale, the property was located in Pendleton County, SC

BACKGROUND
INFORMATION --------------------------------------------------ROBERT
CHILDRESS died on or before June 1799. According to legal docUments filed
with the Bibb County, Ala Court, the ownership of the property in question
was transferred to his legal heirs on 20 Dec 1821. I am trying to
determine if ROBERT CHILDRESS had clear title to the property at the time of
his death or if there was an unpaid balance on the purchase agreement.

January1821.

"......All that tract or parcel of land herein after described as lying on
the Tugaloo River, South Carolina, Pendleton District and having certain
marks agreeable to a plat of the same, beginning on a hickory corner on the
bank of the the Tugaloo River and running on James H. Perryman N 20 E37
chain 20 links to a southwood corner at the mount of the Hurrican Brance
thence N 55 E15 chains to the stake corner thence South 75 E 61 chains 30
links to a stake corner on or near John Hollands line thence south 38 W 20
chains 20 links to a White Oak corner on the banks of said river to the
beginning corner, containing two hundred acres..."
