I have just published an on-line edition of "Reminiscences of Forts Sumter
And Moultrie" In 1860-'61 By Abner Doubleday, Brevet Major-General USA.

I found the book to be very interesting.

Of particular interest to genealogists, the book includes the names of all
of the individuals who were in the fort when it was fired upon by the
confederates.

As well, it has names of quite a few individuals involved with the dispute
during the time from secession of South Carolina from the Union through the
"evacuation" of the federal troops from the fort.

The table of contents is located at
http://www.pddoc.com/skedaddle/articles/sumter_and_moultrie.htm

The author of the book is the same Abner Doubleday who, according to some
traditions and legend, invented baseball. A more factual claim to fame is
that he was the man who, at Fort Sumter, commanded the artillery crew that
fired the first Union shots of the war ..., after breakfasting while under
fire from the rebels.

For other civil war material that I have recently published on-line, please
visit http://www.pddoc.com/skedaddle/articles/index.html .

Please feel free to forward this to others. Linking to any page(s) on my
web-sites is welcomed.
