Rachel,
I am sending this request on to the mailing list so that anyone who can
help. I am glad to see
someone so young so interested in their family history. I do not know of
any researchers right off that are
searching for DUNLAPS but am positive when they see this, they will come out
of the woodwork.
Since this went to the mailing list, Rache, I hope you will join the list to
talk about the Dunlaps and I will send you some links and other information
in another email.
Good Luck
Cindy Wilbanks Chandler

Subject: Anderson gen research
Ms. Chandler,
I hope you remember me; I asked some questions about the Greers a few months
ago.
I have recently run into a dead end on a couple of allied families and was
wondering if you could give me some names/addresses to point me into the
right direction!
My mother has a book called the House of Dunlap that belonged to her
grandmother. I was unfortunately never able to meet Nannie, and Mom never
thought to interview her, so I am left in the dark about some people whose
addresses appear on papers in the book. One such paper is one page from a
letter that was written by Kirk Dunlap, son of Pascal Wilson Dunlap.
Unfortunately, since I am 15 years old I have kind of "missed the boat" as
far as interviewing many of these people with whom my great-grandmother
corresponded - I am sure that most, if not all, of these people are dead
now! Do you happen to know the names of any Dunlap descendants in Anderson
who are interested in geneology and might know something to help me if I
wrote to them?
On a different family, how do I access the census records from 1860 and
1870? My ggggrandmother, Rebecca Haynes [wife of SP Dunlap, Pascal Wilson's
brother], was the daughter of "Nathaniel Haynes and Jane Smith." That is all
I know about them. I have been able to turn up nothing solid on Nathaniel,
and, with a common name like Jane Smith, don't think I am very likely to
find her until I find him! I have, however been able to find one mention of
a Nathaniel Haynes, son of Sheriff Haynes & Mary Tatum, born in Pickens
County. After 1850 that family disappears from the Pickens Census. Because
many of my other SC ancestors were from Anderson, I think it likely that the
Haynes moved into Anderson. I would like to check the census records to make
sure, though. How is the best way to do this? I know you mentioned a look-up
volunteer once before; is there some way I can check them online myself,
since they aren't available through the Anderson site? I don't know that
this would help at all but I have reason to believe [not sure though] that
Nathaniel's middle name was Tarrant.
Thanks so much for anything you can help with!
Rachel
