I am researching the John Sanders McMillan family of the old Barnwell District, S,C, (Present day Colston Community, Bamberg County, S.C.
John Sanders McMillan, b. abt. 1810, in the old Barnwell District, S.C., son of James M. and Martha "Patty" Sandifer McMillan, m. Mrs. Anna Mae Cleckley Smith, dau. of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Cleckley.
She had a daughter named Isobelle Smith, b. abt 1845 by her previous marriage to Mr. Smith.
Anna Mae's mother, Mrs. A. M. Cleckley, maybe the Mrs. A. M. Cleckley, b. abt. 1795, d. March 25, 1876, bur. in Restland Cemetery, downtown, Bamberg, S.C.
John Sanders and Anna Mae Cleckley Smith McMillan may have had a daughter.
1. Hanson McMillan, b. abt. 1846, m. Benjamin Lewis Smith, b. November 1848, in Barnwell District, S.C., son of Gideon Morris, Sr and his wife Elizabeth?.
Hanson brought a dau. to this marriage named Dosia McMillan, b. abt. 1865. Listed on the census as the step-daughter of Benjamin Lewis Morris.
Benjamin Lewis and Hanson McMillan Morris had two sons:
1. Robert L. Morris, b. abt 1871, in Barnwell District, S.C.
2. Benjamin G. (Gideon?) Morris, b. abt 1878, in Barnwell District, S.C.
John Sanders McMillan was brother to Henry William McMillan, Joel McMillan, James R. McMillan and George Butler McMillan of Barnwell District, S.C. (Present day Colston Community, Bamberg, S.C.)
John Sanders and his brother George Butler McMillan were still living at home when their father James McMillan wrote his will. James left the property on which he and his wife Martha "Patty" Sandifer McMillan was living on to George Bulter and John Sanders McMillan. The land was to be split in such a way that George Butler McMillan would get the house, barns & buildings and John Sanders McMillan would get just land.
Any information on the above family would be greatly appreciated
Her brother was named A. M. Cleckley, Jr?, b. July 22, 1829.
