I am trying to untangle some HEATH/HEATH and HEATH/TOOLE relationships in the Aiken-Barnwell County/District, South Carolina, area in preparation for a Durahm family reunion in Georgia the second weekend in June.
Seeking parentage of MILDRED HEATH HEATH b.Aug. 17, 1880 d.March 12, 1933. She was a Heath and married James W. Heath b. Sept 27 1875 d. March 24, 1946. Both are buried in the Cornith Baptist Church Cemetery near New Ellenton, South Carolina. HIs second wife, I think, Ellie Eubanks Heath 1883-1951 is also buried there.
If my research in the Barnwell census is correct his father was also James Heath and his grandfather was Hansford Heath. Some of these are buried at the Springs Cemetery near New Ellenton. Where is James Heath, son of Hansford, father of James W., buried?
Mildred Heath was not born until after the 1880 census and she was married before the 1900 census with at least one child, Annie Heath, who claimed that her parents were NOT related. Having tried to research Tooles in the Barnwell area for many years, I find it hard to believe that this couple was not at least distantly related in some way.
Annie Heath married Charles Manning Durham in Aiken County in 1919. They are back living in Greene County, Georgia, with no children born yet, in the 1920 census.
His parents were Joseph Vinson Durham married Hattie A. (Harriett Ann) Toole in Greene County, Georgia, in 1875. She was from Barnwell District, South Carolina. They were my great uncle and great aunt.
There were numerous TOOLE/EUBANKS/HEATH marriages in Barnwell District, South Carolina. Can anyone help solve some of these relationship puzzles.
