Doc Wyman Chassereau
John, good to hear from you.
Doc Wyman Chassereau was my Great-grandfather, through a son (Monnie Calvin
Chassereau) who was born before he married Mamie Sue Crane. Monnie was reared
near Ehrhardt, SC by his grandmother until he was about 18. About that time
he and several of his uncles came to Georgia to work in the timeber and logging
business. The uncles returned to SC but my grandfather remained in Georgia.
Monnie met and married my grandmother, a local Georgia girl. They returned
to Ehrhardt for a few years but eventually returned to Georgia where he lived
his life and died in 1965. The families over the years became separated and
lost contact with each other. I met Monnie's only living half-brother, Wm.
Dally Chassereau, several months before he died in October 1981. The meeting took
place at a family reunion in Varneville, SC. To my knowledge my grandfather
did not know the half-siblings he had in Hampton. He knew they existed but
did not know them personally and he never talked about them.

I would sincerely appreciate any names or information you could share about
each of these individuals. Where are they buried? Doc Wyman had eleven
children with Mamie Sue Craine. They are buried at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery
near Hampton, South Carolina. Are you connected to this family? If so, I
would like to know where you fit in. I have information on all of Doc Wymans's
children that I can share if you are interested. I look forward to hearing
more from you.
Sincerely,
Alfred Chassereau
