Found on page 170 of Historic Ramblin's Through Berkeley, by J Russell Cross: "The Pulpit Bible, published in 1825, was presented in the Meeting House Days by Mrs. David Owens as President of the Ladies Aid Society and was used in the 1825 pole building."
On page 184 of the same book, reference is made to David Owens, Jr selling 1700 acres in Upper St John in 1859.
Could your David Owens whose wife was Dorcas been a Jr?
If so, the Mrs Owens who presented the Pulpit Bible in 1825
may have been his mother and not his wife.
