Allen Easterling
Allen Easterling, 87, of Hartsville, died Tuesday,
Dec. 18, 2001.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday,
Dec. 20 in Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Revs. Homer Hinson and Ed Griggs officiated.
Memorials may be made to the Cedar Creek
Baptist Church Building Fund, Route 6, Box 120,
Hartsville, S.C. 29550.
Born in Darlington County, Mr. Easterling was a
son of the late Joseph Kenneth and Viola Morrell
Easterling. He was a member of Cedar Creek
Baptist Church, a former member of the board of
directors for Chesterfield County Hospital, and a
veteran of WW II in the European Theater. He was
a retired farmer and was married for 66 years.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Walters Easterling
of Hartsville; two sons, Joe D. Easterling and G.
Wayne Easterling of Hartsville; sisters, Curtis
Talbert of Hartsville, Cora Steinhauser of Hartsville
and Ola McLain of Patrick; five grandchildren; and
four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children,
Richard Allen Easterling and Alice Jane Easterling;
brothers, J. K. Easterling Jr., Carroll L., Colon and
Grover Easterling; and sisters, Carrie Griggs, Ethel
Johnson, Louise Huggins and Annie Bell Oliver.
Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

Joseph Ray Presnell
Joseph Ray Presnell, 71, of Murrells Inlet, died
Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001 at National Healthcare of
Garden City.
Services were private.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Georgetown,
2591 North Fraser St., Georgetown, S.C. 29440.
Born in Level Cross, N.C., Mr. Presnell was a son
of the late Joe Ivey and Beulah Presnell. He was a
U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean
Conflict. He was a former member of the VFW and
Moose Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Pat West and Pam
Moore both of Pawleys Island and Lisa Fry of
Murrells Inlet; a son, Joey Presnell of Pawleys Island;
six grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Lanier of
Sophia, N.C. and Barbara Garner of Asheboro, N.C.;
and a brother, Larry Garner of Asheboro, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris
Skipper Presnell, and a son, Darrell Presnell.
Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, was in
charge of arrangements.

Mary Lowery "Jack" Oliver
Mary Lowery Oliver, 90, of Ruby, died Tuesday,
Dec. 18, 2001.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday,
Dec. 20 from Fairview Baptist Church. Interment
followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Anson County, N.C., Mrs. Oliver was a
daughter of the late Duran and Julia Watts Lowery.
She was a retired seamstress and member of
Fairview Baptist Church where she served as a
Sunday School teacher for more than 40 years.
She was married to the late Thomas Smith Oliver.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist

29727, or Croft Baptist Church, East Croft Circle,
Spartanburg, S.C. 29302.
Surviving are son, George Huntley Oliver and wife
of Spartanburg; a sister, Julia Sellers of Chesterfield;
three grandchildren, Kent Oliver and Tommy Oliver
of Spartanburg, and Janet Davis of Wilmington, N.C.;
five great-grandchildren, Lindsey Oliver, Geena Davis,
Huntley Oliver, Leah Oliver and Sam Davis.
She was preceded in death by a son, Keith Oliver;
three brothers; and two sisters.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.

Alice Nannette Flowers Boan
Alice Nannette Flowers Boan, 93, of Summerville,
died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday,
Dec. 20 from Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home
Chapel. Interment followed in Bethesda United
Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born in Zanesville, Ohio, Mrs. Boan was a daughter
of the late Walter Howard and Martha Jane Taylor
Flowers. She was a homemaker and a U.S. Army
veteran of WW II.
Surviving are her husband, Jessie W. Boan of the
home; a son, Jennings J. Boan of Rock Hill; two
daughters, Nannette DuBose of Summerville and
Wanda Tilney of East Pointe, Mich.; 11 grandchildren;
and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lee Porter.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.

Clyde Quick
Clyde Quick, 76, of Wallace, died Sunday, Dec. 16,
2001 in Cheraw.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
Dec. 19 from Oak Grove United Methodist Church,
Wallace. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Marlboro County, Mr. Quick was a son of
the late Walker and Cora Quick. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II and was a member of Oak
Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are sons, Clyde C. (Joyce) Quick of
Cheraw, Richard E. (Linda) Quick of Friendswood,
Texas, David B. (Ann) Quick of Bennettsville, W.
Alan (Sherrie) Quick of Rockingham, N.C. and
Charles M. (Jackie) Quick of Wallace; one brother,
Henry Frank (Mildred) Quick of Wallace; one sister,
Alice C. Jones of Cheraw; 11 grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a
sister, Kate Quick.
Kiser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
