Thanks for the information about the church. I am sure my Carter family is connected to this area. My ancester, Jesse Carter, left the state and settled in Georgia in the early 1800's. I am not sure from where in South Carolina the branch of Peeples family hailed from which my mother-in-law descended, but they settled in Hamilton County, Florida prior to the War of Northern Aggression. The Honorable Vernon Peeples of Punta Gorda, FL researched this family and put together a typed manuscript of which I possess one copy. Unfortuneately, due to a recent change in residence, it is still boxed up wth a lot of other research. All I can remember at the moment about this family is that my husband's ggrandfather, Dr. Peeples, (his name may have been William) was residing in the rural area of Jasper, Hamilton, FL, when he heard there was a battle raging at Olustee, near Lake City, Florida. He traveled all day on horseback to help tend the wounded, both northern and southern.
