I finally found the Risher-Shieder connection, quite by accident! Was stumbling through the 1880 census for the gazillionth time and noticed Mary E. Risher (widow) in the 1880 census, living with her are daughter Ann M. Shieder and her son Thomas Shieder age 13.

Benjamin Risher (3) b. 1805 and Mary E. (Raysor?) b. 1813 had a daughter Ann M. b. 1831 She apparently married Thomas Shieder. They had a daughter, Mary and a son Thomas.

Thomas is buried in the Shieder Raysor Risher Cem. "Sacred to the Memory of my Husband Thomas Shieder b. June 20, 1823 d. July 31 1872.

Their daughter is also buried there: "Mary S.H. Shieder, daughter of Thos. and A.M. Shieder b. July 20 1868 d. Aug 1 1871.

Anyone researching the Thomas Shieder family? Did he survive to adulthood? Have descendants?
