Subject: [SCCOLLET] Grover Cleveland Raymond - look into probate records
Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2007 11:12:07 -0500
I would pursue the probate records.
I obtained probate records a few years ago for my GGGF/GGGM (Walling -
not related to your line) who died in 1901. The probate took a year or
two and was completed around 1903 or 1904, and was filed in Walterboro.
The cost was about $15-$20 (this was late 1990's or early 2000's).
Information such as who did the work of selling assets, paying bills,
and keeping the records (handled the probate process), who received the
money, and some recorded loans/notes appeared which demonstrated a
connection between some of the people involved.
It was very interesting and enlightening.
