I just noticed in your msg about Lewis George, a passing reference to the German Georges in Orangeburgh Dist. Can you tell me which Georges that would be? My ancestor was Levi George, son of Jesse, son of Henry Jacob George. They were in Orangeburgh, later Barnwell, later Aiken, and then moved to Georgia. I have a hunch they were German but have never found any evidence as to where they came from. Levi married Barbara Fiesler, daughter of a German-speaking Swiss.
