Hello, i sent a msg but it must be too big and will not show to the list.
There is an old cemetry in Darlington somewhere named STANDARD - would love
to have a look up on who is buried there and also where I can find the
books "History of Old Cheraw" and "Jesse's Lotta Hodges". Hope someone on
the list will recognize some of these names.
some of the names assosciated with our STANDARD is NORWOOD, WADDELL,
HARRELL. and BUCKHOLTS - all moved to the new East LA & MS Terr. after the
purchase in 1803.
Capt. Wm Standard m. 1st Dorothy Jones and 2nd Elizabeth ? Wm's sister was
Rachel and she was m. to Abel WADDELL.
by his 2nd wife they had a son named John.
On Jan 1, 1801, John Standard, James Newby and James Tucker made an
inventory of the estate of Rivers Banks in Abbeville Dist. (Wills & bonds
of Abbeville Dist. SC by W. P. Young)
The will of John Standard was recorded on 20 Sep 1814 in Will Book 4 of
Darlington County, SC. He bequeaths to his mother Elizabeth, the
Plantation where Thomas Warr now resides and my Old negro, woman Nanny;
some livestock and at her decease to return to my estate.
Item - to my wife Susannah, all my land excepting such as before disposed
of for her proper use until my son Wm. Archebald Standard attains twenty
one years of age - also my negro-boy Enoch, some livestock and furniture,
etc.
Item - to son, William Archebald Standard, all my land when he attains
twenty one, also a decent education to be paid for out of the profit
arriving from the real & personal Estate.
Appointed his trusty friend Burwell McBride, Executor and my Beloved wife
Susannah Executrix.
Wit: Wm. R. David, Sarah Speightes and Wm. H. Cannon.
William Standard b c. 1737 prob. ENG. Wlilliam, Daniel, and Rachel
settled in the new town of Tarboro, Edgecombe County, North Carolina.
William purchased a lot #2 in Tarboro from Robert Goodloe on 11 Nov 1761.
On 13 Nov 1761, William wittnessed the will of Thomas Goodson who owned lot
#57 in the town. William purchased Lot #1 from Henry Irwin on 28 Sep 1762,
and on 20 Sep 1763, he sold Lot #2 to Aquilla Sugg. William, his wife
Dorothy, and Rachel Standard and her husband Abel Waddell moved SW to the
Cheraw District of SC. Daniel Standard and his wife Ann moved NW to
Granville County, NC. Married to Dorothy Jones, wit: Daniel Standard and
Thomas Cavenah.
On Nov 30, 1775, William Standard was appointed by the Provencial Congress
to the commission of Ensign Captain of a volunteer company from St. David's
Parish. They were part of Colonel Benton's Regiment in Marion's Brigade of
South Carolina Troops of the Continental Establishment. Abel Waddell was a
private in the same regiment. The Rev War Records of SC and NC show
numerous mentions of William Standard for patriotic service including back
pay for service as a private, lieutenant, and captain.
In the years 1787 and 1788 William and Daniel Standard received land grants
from the state of South Carolina. The grants were located in Abbeville
County. They moved their families to the new land and were recorded there
in the 1790 census of Abbeville County, 96th Dist. 2 Males, 4 Females, 8
slaves.
By 1793 Captain William Standard shows in records of Darlington County, and
on the 1800 census.
Likely Children:: William b c. 1765 went to KY and later moved to Illinois
and John 1774-1814 Darlington, SC.834
Capt. William Standard (Bobbie Moss p. 890) who commanded the militia unit
up there in Cheraws Dist. SC, now part of Marlbourough Co. SC.

1793 to Robert Reeves Securitys William Standard & West Williams, penalty
Sixty pounds
7. 16th An Adminstration on the Estate of John Hales granted to Ishum
Ellis, May term 1793 Securitys Benjamin Kolb & William Standard penalty

1793 to Randolph Revill Securitys William Standard & Abel Waddell penalty
Seventy pounds.
