you may have known a Mr Henry Amerson from Timmonsville. He died in 1994
at the age of 98 or so. I interviewed him several times and all his
stories were the same. He identified a picture of my great grandfather,
John J Campbell. John died in 1911 in a house off Stokes Bridge Road
when he fell from a chair he was standing on while lighting a lamp over
the dining room table. Henry Amerson attended the funeral and burial at
Zion. He showed me and my cousin where he stood during the funeral up
against the fence between the white and black cemetery. Then again in
1929 when John's wife Cynthia died, Henry attended the funeral at Zion
and remembers where they were buried, side by side right behind the large
Woodsman of the world marker on the front row.
I wish to place a marker there in Zion for John and Cynthia as these
graves are unmarked. What process and who do I need to be in touch with
to get this accomplished?
