Smoak, Lucille F.

FLORENCE " Lucille Frierson Smoak, 86, of 3016 Greystone Avenue, Florence,
died early Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in a Florence hospital after an
illness.

Mrs. Smoak was born in Richland County, a daughter of the late Adolphus
Darby Frierson and the late Sarah Elizabeth Moore Frierson. She was a
graduate of Clarendon County Schools and was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank William Smoak, by a
daughter, Patricia S. Saxton and by a son, Ronald S. Smoak.

Surviving are five children, Sandra S. (James) West of Andrews, Frankie J.
(William H. Sr.) Staves of Florence, William Michael Smoak of Charleston,
Kay E. (Richard) Brumbles of Latta and Steve D. (Polly) Smoak of Darlington;
two brothers, Robert M. (JoAnne) Frierson of West Columbia and Donald
(Doris) Frierson of Elgin; two sisters, Velma McElveen and Annie (H.C.)
Pritchard, both of Sumter; eight grandchildren, Cindy Infinger of Level
Cross, N.C., Teresa (Steve) Dillard of Sumter, Joe (Cindy) West of Andrews,
Billy (Carol) Staves of Albuquerque, N.M., Tina Dixon of Florence, Laura
(Ronnie) Westbrook of Darlington, Tracy Brumbles of Latta and Brian (Krista)
Brumbles of Sellers and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 12113,
Florence, SC 29504.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Stoudenmire-Dowling
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
