FLORENCE-Dillon- Doris Wiggins Carmichael, 82, died Wednesday, Sept. 15,
2004, at her residence at the Methodist Manor. She was born in Little Rock,
a daughter of the late Robert Hampton and Lucille Blair Wiggins. She
received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College in June 1943 and taught
in the public schools of South Carolina for 37 years. She was the wife of
the late William Boyd Carmichael.

Mrs. Carmichael was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Book and GardenClub,
American Legion Auxiliary and had served as hostess at the Methodist Manor.
She was a member of Timmonsville United Methodist Church, the Adult Sunday
School Class and the United Methodist Woman.

Surviving are a son, Milton Boyd Carmichael of Florence; two grandsons, Mark
Carmichael and Daniel Carmichael; a nephew, Buck Wiggins, and nieces, Cathy
Wiggins, Mary Lucille Wiggins, all of Charlotte; and cousins, Winnie Wiggins
Stanton of Dillon, Jewel Wiggins Schnauss of Jacksonville, Fla., Lucille
Wiggins Huggins of Dillon, Janie Wiggins Stevens, Fayetteville, N.C., and
Lois Wiggins Wallace of Lake View. She was predeceased by three brothers,
Robert Hampton Wiggins, Milton Clare Wiggins and John Clifford Wiggins.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in Timmonsville
United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church
prior to the service. Interment will be in Byrd Cemetery directed by
Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Timmonsville United Methodist Church, 1516 Pine
Hurst Road, Timmonsville, SC 29161
