STEPHENS, JR., W.L. Entered into eternal rest on the morning of January
27, 2007, W.L. Stephens, Jr., husband of Margaret Dalton Stephens. Residence,
Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Stephens, Jr.
are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Tuesday at two
o'clock at St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Monday from five
until seven o'clock. Mr. Stephens was born July 29, 1925 in Dillon, SC, the son
of Wacon Laurel Stephens and Flora Carmichael Stephens. He was a graduate of
The Citadel and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was the
president of Stephens Engineering, Inc., and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He served on Charleston City Council from 1961 to 1996. He is survived by his
wife of Charleston, SC; one son, W.L. Steve Stephens, III and his wife,
Cathy of Charleston, SC; and two daughters: Linda Stephens of Charleston, SC and
Nancy S. Goettel and her husband, David of Murrell's Inlet; three
grandchildren: Stephanie Dorsey, Christine Goettel, and Richard Goettel; and one sister:
Flora Stephens Brooks of Rock Hill, SC. Memorials may be made to St. John's
Lutheran Church, 5 Clifford Street, Charleston, SC 29401. A memorial message
