Services for Ethel C. Bowen will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday in Cooper Funeral
Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9
p.m. Thursday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bowen, 84, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the McLeod Hospice House
in Florence.
Born in Dillon County, May 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Bernice
Church and Maggie Elvington Church. She was a member of Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church, and was a retired Seamstress. She was the widow of the late
Clifford A. "Dick" Bowen.
Survivors include her daughters, Vivian Bethea of Dillon, Dorothy DeBusk of
Greentown, Indiana, and Bonnie Sawyer of Falkville, Alabama; sons, Wayne Bowen
of Dillon, and Johnny Bowen of Kingstree, SC; sisters, Kathleen Mullis
Greenville, Ruby Lupo of Anderson, Mae Thompson of Timmonsville, and Mildred
Smith of Benson, NC; brother, Sam Church of Fort Pierce, Florida; 11
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House, 1203 E. Cheves St.,
Florence, SC 29501, or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, c/o Young at Heart, 1625
