DILLON — Services for Mr. Clyde Arnette will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June
5, 2007, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery
in Dillon officiated by the Revs. Jamie Arnette and Greg Hyler. Visitation
will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Arnette, 85, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at his home after a long
illness.
Born in Dillon County, July 10, 1921, he was the son of the late Carlie
Arnette and Pearlie Butler Arnette. He was the husband of the late Lucille Watts
Arnette. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy
veteran of World War II. He was a retired business man, farmer and truck driver.
Surviving Mr. Arnette are his children, Gene (Lorene) Arnette, Anita (Earl)
Carter and Gerald (Martha Ann) Arnette, all of Dillon; 10 grandchildren,
Angela Arnette (Sidney) Kidd of Florence, Clyde Gene (Kim) Arnette Jr. of Fort
Collins, Colo., Mary Lucille Arnette (Roland) Turner of Fruitland Park, Fla.,
Laura Arnette (Stephen) Kendrick of New York City, Gerald (Janelle) Arnette Jr.
of North Potomac, Md., Melissa Arnette (Jamie) Smith of Mount Pleasant, Lisa
Carter (Kenny) Christmas, Susan Carter (Jamie) King, Mitchell (Shannon)
Carter and Jeffrey Arnette, all of Dillon; 14 great-grandchildren, Meredith,
Connor, Colin and Heather Kidd of Florence, Alicia and Cade Arnette of Fort
Collins, Colo., Elizabeth Pearle Kendrick of New York City, Bryce and Dawson King,
Jon-Mitchell, Noah and Ryan Carter, all of Dillon, and Michael and Nicholas
Arnette of North Potomac, Md.; a special friend, Christine Hulon; five
brothers, Clarence, Gentry (Mary), Eddie, Alton (Kitty) and Monroe (Helen); three
sisters, Beatrice (Leslie) McKenzie, Esther Thomas, both of Dillon, and Rosa
(Billy) Stone of Rowland, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Arnette was predeceased by three
brothers, Albert, Floyd and James Arnette, and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth
Arnette.
The family extends their appreciation to the special care givers who assisted
Mr. Arnette during his illness.
Memorials may be made to the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 405
Mount Calvary Road, Dillon, SC 29536.
