LORIS | Mr. Horace Brooks Miller, 79, passed away Friday, October 5,
2007 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence following an illness.

Mr. Miller was born March 29, 1928 in Horry County, South Carolina, a son of
the late John Clifford Miller and the late Mattie Shelley Miller.

He helped build Lake Swamp Baptist Church, where he was also a founding
member, deacon, trustee and assistant treasurer.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Loris Masonic Lodge #205 AFM. He was a loving
father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his extended family and
was a wonderful family man.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Bullard Miller; and two sisters, Freida
Miller and Rita Miller.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy M. Buffkin and her husband, Jerry, of
Green Sea; two sons, Horace Brooks Miller Jr. of Loris and John M. Miller and
his wife, Angie, of Nichols; four sisters, Eloise Hammonds of Lake View, Ava
G. Bullard of Georgetown, Jenny Bryant of Green Sea and June Grainger of
Loris; three brothers, John C. Miller Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Portland,
Ore., Walter Miller and his wife, Pauline, of Florence and Heyward Miller and his
wife, Sylvia, of Florence; eight grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007, at
Ward Funeral Home in Loris.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2007, from the Lake
Swamp Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Mathew officiating. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery.
