DILLON — Services for Thad Wilson Johnson will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, March
11, 2008, in Mount Calvary Baptist Church, with burial in the church
cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home of
Dillon.
Mr. Johnson, 84, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at his residence.
Born in Dillon County, July 11, 1923, he was the son of the late John Johnson
and Lillie Martin Johnson. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church,
was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a retired cotton ginner and
truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Johnson of Dillon; daughters, Rose
Malanoski and Kathy Gales, both of Dillon; sisters, Ruby Johnson Klink of Cream
Ridge, N.J., and Louise Johnson Smith of Dillon; grandchildren, Terry Lee
Grimsley, Debbie Gail Stegeman, Angel Williamson, Lisa Esteridge, John Allen,
Virginia McQuhae, James W. Huggins, Marie Ivey and Thomas W. Gales; 20
great-grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was predeceased by his daughters, Gail Grimsley and Marilyn
Allen; sisters, Mae Johnson Simpson; and brothers, Daniel Johnson and Jack
Johnson.
