DILLON - Mrs. Doris Rogers Carmichael Smith, 79, died Saturday, February 14,
2009, at her residence. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009,
at Kannaday’s Funeral Home in Dillon. Funeral services are 3:00 p.m. Monday,
February 16, 2009, at Union United Methodist Church with burial in Riverside
Cemetery, directed by Kannaday’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Dillon County April 6, 1929, a daughter of the late
Autrey and Thelma Rogers Carmichael. She was married to Mr. Mendel Smith and
was a homemaker and owner/operator of a craft shop. She attended Columbia
College and was a member of Union United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday
School teacher and pianist, as well as the United Methodist Church Missionary
Association.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mr. Mendel Smith of the home;
son, Mendel “Bud” (Nancy) Smith Jr. of Dillon; daughters, Ellen Smith Bell and
Cindy Smith, both of Little River, SC; sisters, Mary Mac (Craig) Stephens of
Dillon, Hettie Lou (Marion “Bull”) Lee of Dillon, Flora Hopkins of
Hartsville; sister-in-law, Kathleen Sox of Dillon; grandson, Mendel Bell,
granddaughter, Jaime Bell, and great-granddaughter, Taylor Bell, all of Little Rivers,
SC.

Road, Dillon, SC 29536 or to Dillon Riverside Cemetery Association, P.O. Box
267, Dillon, SC 29536.
