DILLON — Eloise Hammond, 87, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Southland
Nursing Home in Florence, S.C.
Mrs. Hammond was born in Robeson County, N.C., a daughter of the late
Clifford and Mattie Shelley Miller. She was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Hammond; a daughter, Paulette
Berkley; a brother, Horace Miller; and twin sisters, Rita and Frida Miller.
She is survived by one son, Franklin (Karen) Dewey Hammond, Jr. of
Rockingham, N.C.; two daughters, Connie (Freddy) Schafer of Hamer and Judy Jackson of
Timmonsville; three brothers, J.C. (Marie) Miller of Portland, Oregon, Walter
(Pauleen) Miller of Florence, and Hayward (Sylvia) Miller of Florence; three
sisters, Ava Gray Bullard of Georgetown, Jennie Bryant of Green Sea, June
Grainger of Tabor City; ten grandchildren; three honorary grandchildren; twelve
great-grandchildren; five honorary great-grandchildren; and a very special
friend, Janice Garris.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Lake
Swamp Baptist Church in the Finklea Community, S.C., directed by Meares
Funeral Home of Mullins. Interment will follow at the Hammond Family Cemetery.
