ARCHIE TAYLOR
DORCHESTER - Archie Taylor, 84, a retired farmer, died Sunday in a
Charleston hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Limestone
Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Bryant Funeral Home of St. George, will
be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was born in Dorchester, a son of Danner E. Taylor and Annie
Lee Varner Taylor. He was a member of Limestone Baptist Church and the
widower of Elizabeth Huff Taylor.
Surviving are three daughters, Jean T. Berry, Linda T. Hall and Bonnie
Faye Taylor, all of Dorchester; two sisters, Clara Bell Britt of Dorchester
and Blanche T. Stack of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.

BLANCHE F. CLAYTON
DORCHESTER - Blanche Ferguson Clayton, 78, a retired salesperson with
B.C. Moore department store, died Monday in a Summerville hospital. The
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dyal Funeral Home in Summerville.
Burial will be in Dorchester Cemetery.
Mrs. Clayton was born in Branchville, a daughter of Bernie Ferguson and
Lula Wannamaker Ferguson. She was a graduate of Orangeburg County schools
and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond A. Clayton; two sons, Raymond A.
Clayton Jr. of Columbia and James "Ronnie" Clayton of Summerville; a
daughter, Wendy C. Nunnally of Goose Creek; a brother, Ansel Ferguson of
Cope; two sisters, Junelle F. Hill of Gilbert and Velma F. Inabinett of
Columbia; and eight grandchildren

ERVIN DOUGLAS
SUMMERVILLE - Ervin Douglas, 84, a retired pipefitter with the
Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Sunday in a North Charleston hospital. The
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Dyal Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Dorchester Memory Gardens.
Mr. Douglas was born in Orangeburg County, a son of John W. Douglas and
Lillie Garrett Douglas. He attended Orangeburg County schools. He was
Methodist.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Singletary Douglas; two sons, Ervin
Douglas Jr. and Tommy Douglas, both of Summerville; three daughters, Elaine
Williams, Lillian Funk and Brenda Sandefur, all of Summerville; a brother,
Richard Douglas of Charleston; a sister, Mary Crosby of Ladson; 14
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren

EVA H. SMOAK
COPE - Eva Hutto Smoak, 80, died Sunday in an Orangeburg hospital. The
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Burial
will be directed by Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
Mrs. Smoak was born in Orangeburg County, a daughter of James J. Hutto
and Emma Steverson Hutto. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. She was
the widow of Wilson Z. Smoak.
Surviving are a son, J.W. Smoak of Orangeburg; a daughter, Brenda
Haddock of Cordova; two brothers, William J. Hutto and Emmett Stevenson,
both of Cordova; and four grandchildren.
