Patricia, what an understatement your last line was..."perhaps it will help someone else". Your bit of information is just what I needed to push me over to finding exactly what I needed on Henry Middleton Sweat and his family. Since you gave specifics on where to find the census information, I've now been able to see first hand that they really existed, thanks to you.

I can see why you're interested in the connection on the Willises and Sweats. It's been two years since you posted this last message, did you ever find out why Samuel Willis (a nephew) was living with T. W. Sweat, wife Margaret Sweat and their family? I see other Willis names along with Levi Grooms on the same page in the 1880 Dorchester Twp, Colleton Co, SC census. Page 15 exactly. So perhaps Margaret's name was formerly Margaret Willis?

Did the Grooms or Willis families marry into the Sweat line any other times? Will be interested in anything you have to tell me. Thanks again for the census information! JC
