In Aug. 1997, we made a trip to SC to research mainly in Fairfield County.
Not only did we enjoy the trip temendously, we were able to spend a couple
of full days at the SC Archives in Columbia. What a goldmine!

They have the old Fairfield Co Deed Books & we were able to make all the
copies we needed. The staff was extremely helpful & I really recommend this
avenue. We located land deeds as well as copies of original transfers of
property, including some slave transfers, wills, etc.

When I went to the URL above, you have some links & information including:
"Copies of documents and limited search requests may be ordered using our
email request service, or plan to visit the Archives to conduct your
research in person."

You might try e-mailing them & checking on their services to help you locate
your deeds.
