FLORENCE -- Funeral service for Mother Charlotte "Lottie" Joe Capers, widow of Deacon William Capers, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 in Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Backus Funeral Home.

Mothers Capers was the daughter of the late Aaron and Mariah Backus Joe of Darlington County, where she also received her formal education. She was a member of Greater Gethsamane Apostolic Church for many years and she served faithfully in many capacities.

She passed away quietly on Sunday, Jan. 27 in a local hospital after an illness.

Surviving are two brothers, Deacon Marion Joe of Darlington and Mr. Aaron Joe Jr.; five sisters, Ada (Coleman) Locklair, Martha Nelson, Rosa Joe, Marie Joe and Mary Dupree; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Joe and Ida Lee Joe; a brother-in-law, James Samuel; two godchildren, Lottie Walker and Jimmy Hart; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive members and friends at the home, 710 McIver Road, Darlington.
