The OWENS, HIGGINS, & HOLCOMBE families were always prolific in Pickens Co., SC, my home county and many of them still live there. I looked in the 1850 census and found many of those names (none of them seem to have ever used the "en" spelling on HIGGINS), and two William OWENS. The younger one is married to a Dorothea w/two young children, and there is an older one, too. If you would like to email me, I will be happy to look further, but it would be a big help if you would provide some dates, even approx. ones.

I don't think you will find many HIGGINS in G'ville Co., esp. They have been in Pickens Co. since the 1700s.
