Barbara,

Do you know if these Kemps are connected to the Various Edgefield Dist, SC
Kemps. The area of Greenville and Edgefield were both in the Old Ninety Six
Dist until 1790 when the area of Greenville because a part of the short lived
Washington District.

I have info. on some of the Edgefield Kemps that inclued the following who
married and had at least some of their children in Greenville area...

I don't know Wiley's parents at this time. According to an August 2003
message from Connie McNeill, OEDGS, She states that "Wilson Kemp was born in
North Carolina, and was part of the group that moved from NC to Greenville and
then on to Edgefield. Includes my GGGGgrandfather Capt Wiley J. Kemp, a
brother of Wilson. Whether the above is that same Wiley, I have not yet
confirmed. But note the reference to Greenville.

There may be probate records in Greenville that will prove the attachments of
these folks to the Greenville names you mentioned in your message below.

I would be interested in putting those Greenville familes together with their
neighbors and wives to see about early connections and possible other family
ties. These Edgefield Kemps were neighbors, witnesses, and married into some of
my Edgefield Co. familes.
