I am researching two AYRES/AYERS families in the 1820 census for Greenville
County, South Carolina.
Joseph AYRES and family
Martin AYRES, Sr. and family
Both of these families are missing from South Carolina in the 1830 census.
There is a Joseph AYRES family in the 1830 census for Jefferson County,
Alabama who might be this Joseph. There is no Martin AYRES of suitable
family composition in the 1830 census.
Is any one familiar with these two families? Is the spouse in either family
named Charlotte? I am considering the possibility that Charlotte's husband
died between 1820 and 1830 and she showed up as Head of Household in St
Augustine, St Johns County, Florida in 1830.
